Half term information Autumn 1 2024

This half term, we have immersed ourselves in different aspects of Roman life. We have learnt about the Roman invasion of Britain, life in the Roman Army, and the legacy the Romans left behind. We wrote fantastic Roman myths, letters and information texts, and made authentic Roman shields and swords for our very own Roman Wow day, which culminated in a battle using traditional Roman techniques of marching and the turtle!

In Maths we have covered place value, rounding and addition and subtraction.

Our Science learning has been based around the different states of matter – solids, liquids and gases. We have carried out lots of investigations, including how long water takes to evaporate in different locations around the classroom and we loved creating our own water cycle in a bag, where we could see how the water evaporated into vapour and then condensed back into water.

We have loved learning ball skills (hockey and football) during outside PE and have been developing our balance skills during gymnastics lessons inside, we particularly enjoyed the performance of routines we put together with a partner.
